The rest of this week I want to challenge you to notice how often we use a negative behavior or negative words. We need to understand that the first step in developing a happy, successful, winning, and positive attitude takes place within yourself. Attitude determines your altitude, if you have a bad attitude, even if you are way up there, you will come crashing down, and if you are still trying to. Words really do have a major impact on us and we should be looking to use the right words, the words that take us to new heights. If we look at the things in life with a good and positive way then we will begin to produce results in that way. What we should be looking to do is use word like I Can, I Love, I Will or, I will persevere! As I mentioned earlier the definition of Attitude is: A way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically an idea that is reflected in a person’s behavior. The more you use these words, the less productive and happy you will become. In 1839 English author Edward Bulwer-Lytton coined the term “The pen is mightier than the sword.” and he was right, words have amazing power! Using negatives words often like, I Can’t, I Hate, I Won’t, I Quit, will unknowingly cause you to develop a bad or negative attitude. We must break the cycle and accept this can be fixed. You daily make choices about how you will act vs react. We can do this simply by changing some of the things that you say. Your attitudes will determine your altitude. Many students that I teach are surprised to learn that you can control your own attitude in a big way. On the other hand, people with a bad or negative attitude will look at problems as impossible and do very little to fix or change them. People with a good attitude or positive out look will look at problems as opportunities and not so much as obstacles. This means, how you look at things or at people will be a reflection of the attitude you have in your mind.

Your hard work, not your talent, will determine whether you achieve a goal or not. Your mindset, not your circumstances, will determine your level of happiness and success. Are you focusing on those things that spiritually weigh you down vs. Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude. Where are you putting your ATTENTION? If you've had a negative attitude lately, become aware of where you are letting your thoughts lie. Lovely words from have the power to change our attitude, but we first have to be AWARE of our attitude.
